Lillian Walker: Civil Rights Pioneer
In 1944, Mrs. Lillian Walker was living in Sinclair Heights, a segregated housing development, in Bremerton, WA. Her husband worked in the Bremerton Naval Shipyard with other African Americans who had recently moved to Bremerton where they faced segregation. In 2009, Mrs. Walker was honored by the State of Washington as a living legacy.
